INTERVIEW WITH MIKE MYERS

Mike Myers friend e-mailed me and said I could do a interview over e-mail with him, this is 100% real.

  • 1. Will you be continuing the Austin Powers series, and if so, how many more are you planning to make?
We are taking this one at a time. If Austin Powers 3 fails in hit box office, we will not make Austin Powers 4, but I would like to start a Austin Powers Franchise if possible.

  • 2. What ever happened to the "Guru Pitka" that you played that was in the first couple drafts of the Austin Powers 2 script?
Guru Pitka was in some people eye's, racially disturbing. It was a funny part, but it offended many Indians and I do not want a negative thing around Austin Powers.

  • 3. Where do you get the ideas for all of your characters that you play?
I normally create the characters around people I knew from my chldhood. My father's friends, the shopkeepers, anyone that came in touch with me back in Canada.

  • 4. Many people were upset that Venessa didn't return. Why didn't she, and where did the idea of her becoming a fembot come from?
She only signed a cameo, and would not return as Vanessa in Austin Powers 2, but I think Heather did a shaggadelic job as Felicity, don't you?

  • 5. Where did you first think of doing Austin Powers? My father died and I wanted to create an atmosphere which my father would like. He would probably say to me the movies were a pile of junk, but deep down inside he would probably laugh. This is his kinf of humour.

  • 6. Why were so many scenes cut out of Austin Powers 2 that were in the previews and books that seemed pretty funny? (i.e. Fat Bastard dancing, bra burning mentioned in the book "Shagadelically Speaking")
My co-workers didn't want to push Fat Bastard's weight problem to much. If he did any more dancing he would be too dead sexy and the film would be rated "X"

  • 7. Will all of the characters from the movies be in the animated series for Austin Powers, like Mini-Me, and Fat Bastard?
We haven't decided yet, they might, they might not. I want them too, but others want fresh ideas.

  • 8. What do you think of all the crazy fans (like me) of Austin Powers in the world and on the Internet?
I think it's great! It connects us with our childhood. I am definately MEZMERIZED by the way you fans react.

  • 9. What was the idea for all of the product placement (Starbucks, Big Boy etc.)? I mean, it was really funny, but a lot people thought it got carried away a bit.
The Big Boy was just funny, c'mon, a tiny child holding up a burger? How much better can you get. Haven't you noticed that everything has turned into a Starbucks lately? Obviously Number 2's financial advertising worked. I just like making fun of real-life situations.

  • 10. A lot of times, Dr Evil, Fat Bastard, Mini-Me and Mustafa stole the audience more than Austin Powers. Do you mind that this is happening?
Don't forget, I play Dr. Evil and Fat Bastard. The audience needs a break from Austin.

  • 11. Do you think your upcoming movie "Sprockets" will be as big as Austin Powers?
    I hope so.

  • 12. Who would you want to continue the Austin Powers series if you couldn't?
I wouldn't sell the rights to Austin Powers. It would only be played by me. It is a sentimental thing.

  • 13. Have you ever thought about continuing Wayne's World?
Ya, but I am way too old.

  • 14. Was it painful being Fat Bastard?
    Ha! You wouldn't imagine!

  • Thanks for your time Mike, we appreciate it! Thanks again.
    You bet, baby! Yeah!
Special thanks to Mike Myers, Jason, Kirk, and Matt.
